A lawyer hired as a company's inside general counsel may not enter into a non-competition agreement with the company (under which the lawyer could not serve as any competitor's in-house counsel for a period of one year). The Bar notes that the lawyer must protect the former client's confidences and secrets if the lawyer begins to represent a competitor.
