19-Judge Conflicts

A lawyer may represent a defendant in a civil suit involving a traffic accident even though the lawyer's partner acted as a substitute judge in the traffic case (the law firm is not disqualified, because Canon 9 contains no imputed disqualification rules). [Rule 1.11 would now allow an "ethics screen" in this circumstance.]
